Considerando el desarrollo de los niños, adolescentes y jóvenes adultos, el orgullo en la familia y la comunidad es la base para la formación de UNA IDENTIDAD CLARA Y ESTABLE. (Woolfolk, 1995).
La meta de un educador es ayudar en la formación de personas CONOCEDORAS y SEGURAS de su HERENCIA ETNICA. Estudios demuestran que miembros de grupos minoritarios que adquieren identidades mediante la exploración de sus propias culturas, como es el caso de los inmigrantes, se relacionan mejor en las culturas adoptadas; además “LOGRAN UNA FIRME AUTOESTIMA, SE SIENTEN MAS COMPETENTES Y TIENEN RELACIONES MAS POSITIVAS CON LOS DEMAS” (Phinney & Alipuria, 1990)

Considering children, adolescence and young adulthood development, family and community pride is the foundation for a CLEAR AND STABLE IDENTITY. (Woolfolk, 1995).
The goal of an educator is to aid in the formation of people with KNOWLEDGE and ASSURANCE of their ETHNIC HERITAGE. Studies show that members of minority groups that acquire identities through the exploration of their own culture, as is the case of immigrants, improve their relationship with their adopted culture, furthermore they “ACHIEVE A STRONGER SENSE OF SELF-STEEM, FEEL MORE COMPETENTE AND HAVE MORE POSITIVE RELATIONS WITH OTHERS” (Phinney & Alipuria, 1990)
